Longevity is designed
A piece lasts longer when its most vulnerable parts can be reached, renewed or replaced. Removable covers, replaceable glides, accessible hardware and finishes that can be repaired are modest decisions with a long effect.
They also encourage care: furniture feels worth maintaining when maintenance has been considered from the beginning.
Honest construction helps
Clear joinery and understandable assemblies make future work easier. This does not mean every connection must be visible, but it should be intentional and serviceable wherever practical.
For hospitality projects, we pay particular attention to the parts that receive the most wear: chair glides, table edges, zips, handles and loose cushions.
A second life is part of the brief
Natural materials reward patience. Timber can be refinished, leather develops a patina and good upholstery can be renewed. Designing around that possibility reduces replacement and lets a piece carry its history forward.
The most sustainable object is often the one someone still wants to keep.
